On Friday 12 May, the children in 5th Class visited the Irish Aid Centre in Dublin for a music based workshop on food and farming in Africa. With Michael, Justine and Ruth, they examined the UN’s Global Goals for 2030, read real life stories of people in Africa, discussed the challenges they face, played some fun games and identified ways in which they can help to make UN’s Global Goals a reality. They also learned some Swahili proverbs, dressed in kangas, played djembe drums, sang songs in Swahili and danced to African music. The children would like to extend their thanks to Dee Brown and Karina Halley who offered assistance on this tour.
