Flag Raising Ceremony – Global Citizenship Marine Environment

On Friday 8 October, St Mary’s and St. Gerard’s NS was awarded its 8th Green Flag for Global Citizenship Marine Environment at a virtual Green Flag Award Ceremony hosted by An Taisce.  On Friday last, 26th November, we gathered in a socially distanced manner as a school to raise our latest green flag and to celebrate the huge achievement that this represents. Over the last 16 years, we have also been awarded Green Flags for Litter & Waste; Energy; Water; Travel; Green Homes; Biodiversity; and Global Citizenship.

We would like to thank our Green Committees who managed and maintained our Green Schools’ Programme during COVID restrictions and school closures over the last two years: 2019-20 – Bryn, Annabel, Grace, Jonathan, Laura, Paddy, Annalisa, Finn and Lily and 2020-21 – Shoshanna, Daniel, Caragh, Billy, JJ, Annalia,  Subhi and Eoin. We would to thank in a special way Flag Officer Commanding Naval Service, Commodore Michael Malone, for joining us last Friday and for raising the Green Flag for Global Citizenship Marine Environment on our behalf.
