On Thursday, we had our first school assembly of the year in the front yard.
Ms Dalton’s 6th Class led the assembly.
We celebrated the begininning of the new school year with prayers, song and symbols. We
welcomed our Junior Infants and our new pupils to our lovely school.
I shared my 3 wishes for the pupils for the new year:
1.Homework: This is so important to reinforce the learning in school. September is an ideal
time to get a good homework habits going at home . I would like to see all pupils
completing their homework each day.
2. Reading: Enjoyment of reading is an essential part of childhood. There is a book for
every child. Please support your child to read (or be read to ) daily for 30 minutes. It will
have a lifelong impact on your child’s development.
3. Sleep: Thank you for supporting us in this message. I would like our pupils to get to bed
on time . We have discussed suggested bed times in various classes. Parents of older pupils
may be aware of the impact of smartphones/blue light on childrens’ sleep patterns . Thank
you for your support on this as we work together to make our pupils days go well in school.
