On the first weekend of the Easter Holidays, five girls journeyed out to the NAC to represent St. Mary’s & St. Gerard’s N.S. at the Irish Minor Schools Championships. Once again they did themselves and our school proud. They swam PBs (Personal Bests) across the board.
Alannah Healy qualified for the final in 50m Freestyle and 50m Butterfly finishing in 7th place in both finals.
Fiadh O’Connor qualified for the final in 50m Freestyle, finishing in 5th place.
Our relay team of Fiadh, Katie McGovern, Alannah and Eve O’Neill finished in 3rd place for the Medley Relay, claiming the bronze medal. The girls took a combined 13.62s off in the Medley Relay and 14.05s in the Freestyle Relay from their Leinster Championship swims. Super teamwork!
In the afternoon Caragh Healy represented our school finishing in 16th place in the 100m IM and in 11th place, just missing the final, in 50m Fly.
We are really proud of our swimmers and all the hard work they put in.
