We are unbelievably proud of the 15 swimmers who represented our school at the Leinster Minor Schools Swimming Championships on Sunday 19th January 2025, in the National Aquatic Centre, Blanchardstown. It was a packed event with over 225 swimmers in the 9-10 session in the morning and over 420 swimmers in the 11-12 session in the afternoon. Our team of 15 swimmers swam their hearts out and put in great performances, some of them swimming in their very first gala. We are really proud of the efforts of all the boys and girls who represented St. Mary’s & St. Gerard’s NS.
Fiadh O’Connor claimed Silver in 50m Freestyle (33.55s), Silver in 50m Butterfly (39.57s) and Bronze in 50m Backstroke (41.61s).
Alannah Healy finished in 3rd Place claiming Bronze in 50m Freestyle (36.75s).
Our Girls U/10 Relay Team of Amelia Maslanka, Katie McGovern, Alannah and Eve O’Neill claimed Silver in the Medley Relay (3:37.17) and Bronze in the Freestyle Relay (3:26.03).
An honour on the day was to be presented with the medals by double Olympian, World Championship Finalist & multiple Irish Record holder Ellen Walshe!!!
Fiadh, Alannah, Katie, Howard Maguire, Annabel O’Reilly and Caragh Healy all achieved Irish Schools Qualifying Times and will go on to represent our school at the Irish Minor Schools Championships, taking place in the National Aquatic Centre on 30th March 2025.
Our swimmers had great fun on the day and we had a wonderful team of supporters. Our parents and families could be heard cheering above the roaring crowds of spectators in the stands. Thank you to Ms. Morgan who came out to support us.
