To commemorate the 1916 Rising, 5th and 6th class travelled to the Mermaid Theatre on Friday, 12 February to see a play entitled Me, Mollser. Magnet Projects

After studying magnetism in school, the children were asked to design a game based on magnets. We had great fun playing with our inventions!  Have a look at some of the ideas that we came up with in 5th Class.  

Design a board game

The children in 5th Class love playing board games, especially when they can’t get out to the yard on wet days. War Game

As part of its study of World War 1, Fifth Class enjoyed reading the novel ‘War Game’ by Michael Foreman. They also examined the poem ‘In Flanders Field’ by John Mc Crae and painted pictures inspired by its images.

World War 1

5th Class children are studying World War 1 at present and are presenting projects that they have created. While most of the children chose to use Powerpoint, a few of them used their artistic skills to replicate life in the trenches.

Respectful Online Communication

On Thursday, 12 November, two members of An Garda Síochána from Bray, Sergeant John Fitzpatrick and Garda Adam Nolan, spoke to the children in 5th and 6th Class about respectful online communication and cyberbullying. On Thursday 5th November, 5th Class attended an Energy or “Guzzler” Workshop facilitated by Emlyn Cullen from the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland.
